AK NextG PowerDesk 6-in-1 105W GaN Review — Is It Worth It?

Most desk charging stations disappoint the same way: the primary port throttles under load, the wireless pad stops when all ports are in use, and the cable you need is the one that's six inches too short. Here's whether the PowerDesk 6-in-1 delivers.

Specs at a Glance

Spec	PowerDesk 6-in-1
Total output	105W GaN
Ports	2 USB-C + 4 USB-A
Built-in cables	Yes — retractable USB-C
Wireless charging pad	Yes — magnetic
Compatibility	MacBook, iPhone, iPad, USB-A devices
Price	$79.99

The Built-In Retractable Cables — The Standout Feature

Pull one out to the length you need, plug in, release when done and it coils back into the hub. After a week, reaching for a loose cable on a standard hub feels like a step backwards.

Charging MacBook

MacBook Air charges at full speed on the primary USB-C retractable cable. MacBook Pro 14" charges at a solid desk pace. MacBook Pro 16" charges on the PowerDesk, though slower than a dedicated 140W adapter under heavy sustained load.

Charging iPhone 18 Pro

The magnetic wireless pad handles iPhone top-up charging throughout the work day. For the overnight Qi2.2 25W full charge, use the AK NextG TriCharge Pro at the nightstand.

Value

Competitor	Primary port	Built-in cables	Wireless pad	Price
Typical major-brand hub	65W	No	Sometimes	$80–150
Budget hub	45W	No	No	$30–45
PowerDesk 6-in-1	65W via retractable cable	Yes	Yes	$79.99

Who Should Buy It

Buy it if: MacBook + 3 or more other devices, want built-in cables, want wireless iPhone charging at the desk.

Look elsewhere if: You need a 140W primary port for MacBook Pro 16" under heavy sustained load — the PowerDesk 6 540W is the right choice for that.
